Punjab Police have constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) on the directions of the Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission to expedite the investigation into vandalisation of Dr BR Ambedkar’s statue at Rajpura.
“Patiala Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) has submitted preliminary report into the matter today. As per the findings of the report, the statue had been damaged with brick by unknown persons. Police have taken fingerprints from the incident site besides collecting a dump of mobile phones,” said the Commission’s chairperson Tejinder Kaur on Friday.
She said that the report reads that defaced statue is being replaced with the new one.
