The Haryana Government on Saturday said it will launch “Mhara Gaon-Jagmag Gaon” scheme, aimed at supplying uninterrupted power to rural consumers besides strengthening distribution network and realising outstanding payments.Nitin Yadav, Managing Director, UHBVN, said that with the launch of the scheme, power supply to selected villages would be immediately increased from the existing 12 hours to 15 hours after holding a meeting of the concerned village panchayat.

With the replacement of defective meters and shifting of the existing meters fixed outside the premises of the consumers and replacement of naked wires with Aerial Bunched Cable, the supply would be increased from 15 hours to 18 hours every day. Consequently, with improvement in the billing and collections to 90 per cent, the supply hours would be increased to 21 hours a day.Once these parameters show further improvement, the discoms would be able to supply qualitative and un-interrupted supply for 24 hours to the consumers.

The scheme includes holding of Bijli Panchayats in every constituency for the release of new connections, replacement of defective and damaged electromechanical meters, correction of erroneous bills, regularization of unauthorized loads, effective distribution of energy bills, replacement of old damaged bare conductors with aerial bunch /armored cables, relocation of meters outside premises of the consumers etc.Yadav said that out of the 90 constituencies in the State, 83 with rural domestic supply (RDS) feeders, would gain from the scheme. One feeder, with least losses in each constituency, has been selected on a pilot basis, to be given the advantages.Consumers who pay the principal amount in five equal instalments, will get the surcharge waived off. Consumers who wish to extend their load voluntarily will have the load regularized without any penalty,he added.
