Gearing up for the 2017 Punjab Assembly polls, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Thursday huddled to formulate the party’s strategy.
Deputy Chief Minister and SAD president Sukhbir Badal held detailed meetings with the party’s district heads, circle presidents and district coordinators, and gave a patient hearing to the problems and also the suggestions by the party leaders.
Sukhbir asked the party leaders to work towards disseminating information regarding Government’s achievements among the people, personally and also via social media.
The party has also decided to arrange a party camp at Sri Anandpur Sahib, followed by a next meeting after two months to know the output.
“SAD-BJP alliance is all set to repeat its Government for third consecutive term by getting people’s referendum on its development agenda in 2017,” Sukhbir said.
He said that the SAD-BJP Government has ushered in an era of development in the State by opting pro-people and development oriented policies during last nine years.
Sukhbir asked the party office-bearers to aware the people of the State regarding remarkable and path breaking initiatives taken by the Government to counter negative campaign and propaganda being run by Congress and AAP.
Also taking feedback regarding the success of pro-people policies at the ground level, Sukhbir asked all the office-bearers to arrange monthly meetings at circle and district level besides giving the feedback regularly to party head office.
Dwelling on the use of modern technology in present techno-centric scenario, Sukhbir laid emphasis on using social media tools to ensure that every section of society is in knowledge about progress oriented policies and developmental agenda of the SAD-BJP Government.
“All necessary help would be extended to the party cadre in this regard,” he added.
Taking AAP and the Congress severely to task, he said that both these are anti-Punjab parties whose single pointed agenda is to grab power through any devious means, whereas it was only the SAD which, being the true representative of Punjabi people, has served all the sections of the State with full dedication which is amply demonstrated by the establishing of memorials of every community and observing their sacred occasions with solemnity.
Sukhbir announced that camps would be organised to guide youth about the rich past of the party besides distributing a pamphlet amongst the workers highlighting achievements of SAD-BJP Government, so that they can make common people aware regarding success story of Punjab authored by SAD-BJP Government armed with solid proof.
The SAD president also listened to the various suggestions put forward by leaders and workers and assured them of implementation after careful deliberations.
