SAD condemns Phoolka's statement

Outrightly condemning Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislator HS Phoolka’s “mischievious” move of threatening to resign as from Punjab Assembly if cases were not registered against former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal within 15 days, Shiromaini Akai Dal (SAD) on Sunday dubbed it as a “political gimmick to derive political mileage” out of troubled waters of Punjab.

“Phoolka is a senior advocate of the Apex Court and his license should be revoked by the Bar Council of India immediately for making unconstitutional and illegal demand to register cases on the basis of a fabricated, concocted, tailor-made report prepared at behest of Congress party by a pliable judge singing to the party’s tune,” said SAD spokesman and former minister Daljeet Singh Cheema.

He said that Phoolka was well aware of limitations of Punjab Government which can’t register any case against Badal on the basis of Ranjit Singh report which is bundle of conjectures, assumptions and farfetched deductions which are unlikely to stand legal scrutiny for a day.

Cheema pointed out that during debate on Ranjit Singh panel report in the assembly session, Phoolka and his entire AAP had worked hand-in-glove with the ruling Congress to defame Badal. “But now, Phoolka is trying to distance himself from the bunch of Congress leaders who had given a clean chit to perpetrators of 1984 Sikh riots,” he said.

Cheema said that Phoolka has urged Congress ministers to follow him and quit the ministerial berths if they failed to get cases registered against Badal and Saini. “Strangely, three of these have already given a rebuff to Phoolka. Not to talk of taking of registering cases against Akali leader but these ministers have refused to withdraw the cases from CBI and hand over to SIT of Punjab police,” said Cheema.

He said Phoolka had, however, been looking for excuses to run away from his responsibilities as a legislators and ditch the electorate.

“Phoolka is unwittingly or knowingly trying to vitiate the communal amity in Punjab in league with Congress itself which caste dangerous shadows of years of past in the state,” said Cheema urging the Bar Council of India to revoke his license as his words and actions are amounting to threat to the communal harmony of a border state.
