A huge idol of lord Krishna would be set up at a cost of Rs8 crore at Brahma Sarovar, district Kurukshetra. While the Central Government would spend Rs1 crore on this project, the remaining Rs7 crore would be spent by the State Government.

The decision was taken in a meeting presided by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal in a review meeting of Tourism Department and Tourism Corporation on Tuesday. Karan Tal and Kurukshetra and its nearby areas would be developed under second phase of circuit tourism.

Manohar lal said all visitors staying in circuit houses would be provided with complete information of all important places of the area so that they do not face any difficulty while visiting tourist places.

He directed the officers to initiate new works to bring the tourist places under profit and to popularise these places of the State. He said that short-term courses should be started for cooks and waiters working in various departments in the State Hotel Management Institute so as to make them  excel in their  field.

The CM also directed the officers not to provide free stay and dining facility to anyone in various tourist places running under the Tourism Corporation. He said that credibility of tourist spots with lodging facility should be enhanced so as to create a sense of safety and security among people which would help in increasing the number of visitors in these places. CCTV cameras have already been installed at all tourist spots for this purpose, he added.
