PNS

To deal with the menace of female foeticide in the State, Haryana Government has decided to double the cash reward money and give Rs1 lakh to the informers providing vital information about anyone involved in this heinous practice.

For this, a provision of Rs25 lakh token money has been provided under annual plan 2015-16. The Chief Minister has also given approval to this, said Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij on Tuesday.

The Minister said that once the persons involved in this crime are caught red handed and on finding the information correct, the informer would immediately be given his cash award.

Haryana has a skewed sex ratio of about 875 girls to 1,000 boys and figures at the bottom among all states in sex ratio (as per Census 2011). The then Congress Government in Haryana had, in July last year, enhanced the reward to informers from Rs20,000 to Rs50,000 and the Bharatiya Janata Party Government has doubled it to Rsone lakh.

The Minister said that this step has been taken in order to completely put an end to female foeticide, which has led to unbalanced sex-ratio in the State. After this, every person of the State would keep vigil on any person involved in the crime and this would create a favorable environment for girl child and change the mindset of the people.

Vij added that the State Government is committed to strictly implement PNDT Act in the state. For this, the State Government besides keeping vigil on doctors, has also initiated several schemes for the welfare of girl child.
