PNS

Under the leadership of Rourkela DCC chief George Tirkey, the Congress party staged demonstration on Monday at Ambedkar Chowk, Uditnagar demanding early dismissal of Rourkela MLA Sarada Nayak from the State Assembly for enjoying office of the profit.

As alleged by the Congress party, Nayak who was elected to Odisha Assembly in May 2019 simultaneously assumed the office of Chairman, Sundargarh District Planning Board since August 2019. As the Chairman he is being given the status of State Minister along with all other facilities, which is violation of Office of Profit rule, the agitators said.

Along with Nayak 11 more MLAs of BJD are also enjoying dual positions in their respective district. So, considering a petition the Orissa High Court has asked the Governor of Odisha to take a decision regarding the Membership of these MLAs as their appointments are completely illegal, the Congress members alleged.

They urged the Governor to take early decision to dismiss Nayak.
