Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his Deputy Sukhbir Badal will throw open for public the seven-kilometre-long Ropar bypass on Chandigarh-Jalandhar road on October 2.
The bypass, as a part of State Government’s commitment to provide world class infrastructure, has been constructed with a cost of `180 crore and is expected to provide a big relief to the commuters from traffic congestion.
“This bypass would be a gift for the residents of Ropar city. When this bypass is opened for vehicular traffic, the problem of traffic congestion in Ropar would be automatically solved as the traffic would not pass through the city,” said Ropar MlA and the state Education Minister Daljit Singh Cheema.
Cheema said that the SAD-BJP Government in Punjab has reiterated its commitment for providing world class infrastructure to Punjabis. “All districts of the state have been connected with six-lane roads, besides new Rail Over Bridges, under-bridges, high level bridges have been constructed in different parts of the state,” he said.
Two high-level bridges have been constructed on Sutlej and Sirhand canal on Ropar bypass. With the construction of this bypass, the distance between Chandigarh and Jalandhar would reduce by five kilometers and the traffic would not have to pass through Ropar city.
