Giving details of things to look up for in 2015, the State Director General of Police Sumedh Singh Saini said Punjab Police has finalised a Rapid Rural Police Response System with an objective of a City PCR-like response service in rural areas. As many as 230 four-wheelers and 450 GPS fitted motorcycles are being acquired for this purpose.
Besides, the Punjab Police has adopted a Computer-Aided-Dispatch (CAD) system for up-gradation of Dial 100 system.
A 52-seater centralised State Emergency Response Centre (SERC) is being set up at Mohali, along with 27 District Emergency Response Centers (DERC) for dispatch of calls and resources. The State police was also in the process of implementing Safe City project for two mega cities ludhiana and Amritsar to provide complete security solutions.
