Akali Dal president and Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Thursday described Punjab Congress Chief Partap Singh Bajwa as a ‘human bomb’ sent by Congress yuvraj Rahul Gandhi to destroy himself along with entire Punjab Congress by contesting lok Sabha elections.

Addressing a rally here in favour of SAD-BJP candidate Vinod Khanna, Sukhbir claimed, “Rahul was never willing to join politics but his mother Sonia Gandhi and other senior party leaders pulled him into politics. Now, he planned a strategy to demolish the party in one go during these lok Sabha polls by planting some human bombs in every State. Bajwa is also one of them”, he added.

Hitting out at Bajwa, Badal said that PPCC president had failed to bring even a single development project for the people of the border area from his party led UPA Government. He said that it was a matter of record that except being busy in party infighting, Bajwa never dared to convince his party led UPA Government for initiating any project for the betterment of the border area.

lambasting the Congress for constant neglect of border areas of Punjab, Badal said that NDA Government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee had launched the compensation scheme to compensate the farmers from the border area for the difficulty faced by them in cultivating their land across the wire but this scheme had been discontinued during UPA rule.

Attacking reluctant Congress lok Sabha candidates, Badal said that most of the young leaders from Congress party have either run away from the battle field or left their constituencies and the reluctant senior leaders who were forced to contest were just like antique cannons of British times, which could be used for decoration but not to defend the castle.

Badal said Punjab would receive maximum benefits once NDA is voted to make next Government at Centre. He said that there were strong ties between NDA’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Punjab  Parkash Singh Badal

Addressing the gathering, Vinod Khanna described Gurdaspur constituency as his fifth child. He said he had tried his best for the development of the area and Gurdaspur would witness sea change within two years of next NDA Government.
