PNS

In a remarkable performance, Panjab University Students Union (PUSUS) won all the four posts for the students council elections, the results of which were announced late on Wednesday evening.,

Nishant Kaushal of the PUSU will be the new president of the Panjab University Campus Students’ Council (PUCSC). The second spot went to Piyush Anand of the Students Organisation of India, while the third spot went to Amritpal Singh of the Students for Society (SFS), a left-leaning group that fought only for the top post.

In the closely fought elections, Nishant got 2,843 votes, Piyush got 2,505, while Amritpal polled 2,494. Siya Minocha of the National Students’ Union of India was a distant fourth with 2,074.

last year, in a lopsided affair, SOI, the youth wing of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), had brought the two-year winning streak of Congress wing NSUI to an end by sweeping all the four seats.

The NSUI had finished a poor third, even behind PUSU, which had then contested the elections in alliance with Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Party (ABVP), the student wing of BJP.
