New dialysis units will be installed at eight civil hospitals in Punjab. The new units will be installed at the Civil Hospitals of Mukerian, Hoshiarpur, Phagwara, Tarn Taran, Batala, SAS Nagar (Mohali), Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar (Nawanshahar) and Malerkotla.
The Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust (Regd) has offered the State Health and Family Welfare Department to install these dialysis units during a meeting between Trust’s managing director and APEX Group of Companies (Dubai) chairman SP Singh Oberoi and the state Principla Secretary (Health and Family Welfare) Vini Mahajan.
Welcoming the move, Mahajan said that Department has already been provided two dialysis units each in district hospitals of the State and in addition in two sub-divisional hospitals — Abohar and Dasuya.
“One unit is for catering to the requirements of infected patients, whereas the other unit is for normal patients,” she said.
Principal Secretary said that with these eight new dialysis units, patients of these areas requiring dialysis shall get a major reprieve and patient inflow in these hospitals shall also improve further.
She said that the State Government is taking numerous initiatives to improve infrastructure and equipment in the Government hospitals and strengthen the manpower to provide better healthcare facilities to the people of the State.
Besides, initiatives are also being taken to involve and motivate the social organisations and NGOs for increased participation in the health sector.
