Punjab to act tough against pvt schools exploiting parents

PNS

Punjab Government-approved regulatory authority, set up to curb the state private schools receiving schools fees in an arbitrary manner from the parents, is all set to start its functioning soon.

The violators would not only face penalty, but may also be disqualified of its affiliation considering the seriousness of the matter.

The state Education Department is banking on the regulatory authority hoping that the new set up would save the parents and their wards from exploitation on the part of such private educational institutes in the state.

State Education Minister Daljeet Singh Cheema, announcing this on the sidelines of inauguration of 62nd National School Games (Hockey Competitions Under-19 Boys and Girls) in Jalandhar, said that each complaint would get hearing within 15 days of receiving.

“The complaint would get complete redrassal within 60 days of receiving by the committees authorised at Divisional level under the chairmanship of Divisional Commissioners authorised under this Regulatory Authority,” he said.

Cheema added, “If any such complaint would be proved true, the fine would be imposed on the concerned private school and keeping the seriousness of the matter in view, even such private school would get disqualified of its affiliation.”
