Going hi-tech, Punjab Police now have 13 new “fully equipped” mobile forensic vans covering all the major cities and districts of the State.

These vans are expected to ensure proper scientific investigation of crimes with special emphasis on preserving the crime scene by using latest technologies.

Describing scientific investigation of crime as the need of the hour, the state Director General of Police Suresh Arora on Wednesday exhorted the field police officers to be more tech savvy as the use of various technologies by criminals were ever increasing and the state police needs to be better equipped to detect crime.

Arora, after flagging off a new fleet of 13 mobile forensic vans from Punjab Police headquarters, underlined the need for maximum usage of latest technologies including forensic techniques as well as IT tools and software for prompt detection of crime taken place anywhere in the state.

He expressed confidence that scientific investigation would immensely help the investigation officers in detecting crime as well as ensuring the conviction of criminals.

The State police has planned to provide one each such mobile forensic van at every district police headquarters.
