Punjab Mahila Congress president resigns

PNS

Accusing the party leadership of “ignoring” her, Punjab Mahila Congress president Balvir Rani Sodhi has resigned from the post, citing family circumstances. Sodhi has sent her resignation to the Congress interim national president Sonia Gandhi on Monday, with a copy to vice-president and party MP Rahul Gandhi; and All India Mahila Congress’ acting president Netta D’Souza. “Kindly relieve me from the post of president Punjab Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee as I am unable to continue due to unavoidable compulsions of my circumstances,” Sodhi said in her resignation letter, while assuring that she will remain loyal to the party. It has been learnt that Sodhi was upset over being “neglected” by the state leadership. Sources maintained that while taking major decisions, the party’s women wing was not being consulted or taken into confidence. Besides, she was also not seen in the party meetings or programmes in the past few weeks. Sodhi was appointed to the post by the Congress president in November 2021.
