Punjab Government has invited applications from the farmers to avail subsidy on purchase of paddy straw chopper or shredder-cum-spreader on or before May 8. “The subsidy to the tune of 50 per cent or Rsone lakh, whichever less, would be provided on the agriculture equipments costing approximately Rs2.50 lakhs,” said the state Agriculture director Mangal Singh Sandhu on Thursday.
He said that the facility of providing subsidy would be limited to 1,500 farmers only. “Thus, interested farmers could avail this opportunity by filing application in a fixed format along with non-refundable demand draft of Rs5000 in the favour of Punjab State Farms Commission,” he said.
