Punjab Government on Wednesday inked first of its kind Memorandum of Agreement to provide internationally recognized training in construction sector.

The memorandum was signed between Bathinda’s Maharaja Ranjit Singh Technical Education University (MRSPTU) and UK’s ACES Skill Center (ASC) in the presence of Punjab Technical Education and Employment Generation Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and British Deputy High Commissioner at Chandigarh Andrew Ayre.

Channi said that this initiative has been taken to make Punjabi youth skilled in the construction sector as per international standards so as to provide them overseas employment.

The initial training would cover concrete specialists, carpenters and brick layers and would last three-six months with opportunity to work in UK after successful completion of skill training.

MRSPTU would set up International Skill Development Centre at its main campus in Bathinda in first phase where ACES would provide training with the aid of state of the art Technology to its Master Trainers so as to enable them to provide internationally valid training and certifications.

Briefing about the ACES Skill Centre, CEO Danny Sangha said that ASC provides training programmes on construction, health and safety, leadership, analytical and communication skills, where candidates can gain hands-on experience with the tools and equipment used in UK.
