Making an emotional appeal to the people of Punjab, the state Health and Family Welfare Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu on Thursday urged the people to come forward and undergo COVID-19 testing as delayed reporting by the patients to the hospitals is the cause of concern in this battle against the pandemic.
Sidhu, who held a review meeting on COVID-19 situation in Jalandhar with the Health Department, said that the State Government and its machinery are working round the clock to halt the spread of the virus and we need just wholeheartedly support of everyone in the terms of quick reporting to the Health Department at the very onset of sickness or other symptoms.
“As soon as someone develops fever or flu-like symptoms, he or she must get tested for COVID-19 promptly so that treatment can be started at the earliest of the patients with co-morbidities,” said Sidhu.
He added that everyone has to play a significant role in this war by remaining vigilant about the precautions which would help them to protect from COVID-19 pandemic as only awareness is vital for keeping the contagion at bay.
Calling the health staff as his own family, the Minister also hailed their contribution saying that they are working tirelessly in this war against the pandemic. He said that history will remember this battle which was fought by doctors, medical staff and others for rendering the duty to serve the ailing humanity.
He said that the entire humanity bows before these brave hearts who were working untiringly to save human existence.
