Punjab Government has decided to enrol all out-of-schoolchildren, especially those of migrant labourers including brick kiln workers.
“Punjab Government is committed to achieve the goal of Universalisation of Elementary Education (UEE) by bringing all out-of-school-children including working children, street children of migrant labourers or families, deprived children, street children in urban slums, bonded child labour, children of beggars, girls of minority community, girls involved in domestic chores or sibling care and other vulnerable sections of the society, in the schools,” said the State Education and language Minister Sikander Singh Maluka.
He said that to bring them into the mainstream, Punjab Government would impart special training to bridge the gap in their learning level as well as health by the department concerned.
“The School Management Committee or the local Authority shall identify children requiring special training and also organise such special training which would be based on special designed age specific learning material, which shall be approved by the academic authority,” he added.
The Minister stated that web-based child tracking system has already been developed for follow up action to ensure that the children go to school regularly. This system would be updated from time to time, he added.
