In a significant decision, Punjab Government has initiated online registration in the schools affiliated to the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) from the current academic session. And now, the State Government is mulling to start the online fee collection system through banks.
All the registrations in this session would be on line and that too free of cost, disclosed Punjab Education Minister Sikander Singh Maluka on Friday.
Maluka said that the password and user IDs had already been sent to the schools for the online registration of students and now it would be the responsibility of the concerned school.
He added that around seven lakh students studying in more than 9,000 schools would be benefited with this new initiative. “It would also help in saving time as earlier it used to take more than three months for a student to get registered,” he added.
The Minister further said that with this online registration, those students who migrated or shifted to other boards or schools or vice versa could also be tracked easily. Notably 17,500 students shifted from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to the PSEB last year.
