Punjab dismisses four erring medical officers

PNS
Punjab Government on Friday dismissed four erring Medical Officers on the charges of long absenteeism, insubordination and leaving station without permission of the authorities concerned. Notifying their dismissal “with immediate effect”, the Government forwarded the dismissal orders to the Punjab Public Service Commission for further action.
“Dr Jagdeep Singh, Dr Vikas Gupta, Dr Geetika Verma, and Dr Jagpal Singh have been dismissed from service on charges of long absenteeism, insubordination and leaving station without permission of the authorities concerned. They have betrayed the State by not obeying the service rules,” said the Government spokesperson.
The decision was taken after receiving reports from four different committees constituted by the Government under the chairmanship of retired IAS officers, GC Aggarwal, KC Saini, JPS Puri and Manmohan Huria. The Health Department launched a probe into the erring Medical Officers and found the allegations levelled were in line with the findings of investigating officers, added the spokesperson. He also said that the four medical officers were already given time to explain their versions which they failed to do and they did not appear before the committee in spite of repeated reminders sent to them.
