Punjab has disbursed more than Rs7281 crore to over 14 lakh beneficiaries in first quarter by online system — claiming to become first successful state in the country to pay out such an amount.
“Crediting online payments is successfully running in the entire State. Through this recently implemented system of online payments to various departments, authorities besides salaries of Government officials or employees, Punjab has credited more than Rs7,281 crore — Rs72,81,85,98,352 to be precise - in a short span of three months,” said State Finance Minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa.
He said integrated financial management system (IFMS) has been monitoring the system of online payments from its inception on April 1, 2013, and Punjab has become the country’s first state to start this programme.
“All Government payments from April 1 are being deposited directly in the bank accounts of concerned departments and authorities. 14,32,566 people are directly benefited with this scheme,” said Dhindsa.
The Finance Minister further said e-Payment system was implemented in all Government offices or departments, whose transactions were done through treasury offices.
“Twenty-one treasury offices in the State have implemented the e-payment system while besides these offices all 64 sub-treasuries arte running this system in the state,” he said.
He added that from July 1, 2013, Punjab has set a new milestone by starting the whole work online, which would prove to be a major step to ensure paperless administration in releasing funds to various departments in the entire state. He said that no physical files would be required to be submitted now.
