Punjab DGP has became a mere rubber stamp, puppet in AAP’s hands

PNS

Accusing the Punjab police chief of becoming a mere “rubber stamp” and “puppet” in the hands of the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Punjab BJP president Ashwani Sharma on Thursday written a letter to the Union Home Minister Amit Shah apprising him of the alleged politicisation of Punjab Police.

“AAP has made the state police a puppet to victimise and harass opposition leaders. In the last few days alone, cases against Tejinder Bhaga, Preeti Gandhi, and Naveen Jindal — all BJP leaders, and Congress leader Alka Lamba have been booked by the state police,” said Sharma.

He said that AAP is unfortunately resorting to using the state police to “fix” political opponents.

“AAP supremo and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann are masterminding the entire vendetta against opponent political parties. This is a sad day in the democratic spirit of the nation,” he added.

He also maintained that the party’s senior level delegation had taken an appointment with the state Director General of Police (DGP) VK Bhawra to apprise him on the rapidly deteriorating law and order situation in the state. “Regrettably, the DGP did not meet two senior general secretaries — Jeevan Gupta and Rajesh Bhagga. The delegation was made to wait unceremoniously and then told that the DGP was not available while he was meeting people who had been given time,” rued Sharma

“It is alarming that the crime rate has seen a significant increase in the last one month as 30 murders alone have taken place in the State and robberies and other petty crimes are being committed,” said the state BJP chief.

Sharma said that AAP Chief Minister should focus on giving good governance and not just being a “poster boy”.

“The real face of AAP is unveiling as it misuses the police force and state machinery for political purposes and not welfare,” he added.
