The Congress will move two adjournment motions in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha. Attacking the ruling SAD-BJP combine Charanjit Singh Channi, leader of Opposition in Punjab Assembly on Sunday said that the present SAD-BJP Government had miserably failed to protect the rights of Dalits in the State and the incidents of Dalits attrocities were rising day-by-day.
“The Government is shielding the culprits and there is a nexus between the police and the goons of ruling Shiromani Akali Dal. This is evident from the fact that the Wahab Wala police station in-charge submitted an investigation documents in a local court regarding the brutal murder of Bhim Tank, where in the main accused Shiv lal Doda’s name has not been included in the chargesheet. Shiv lal Doda enjoys political patronage under the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal government” added Channi.
Channi said that Congress wanted a discussion on the issue because we had been already saying that the formation of SIT by this Government to investigate the matter was an eye wash just to give safe exit to the culprits which had been proven by these investigation documents submitted by the local police station.
He also demanded a CBI inquiry into this murder case.
Channi said that in the recent past incidents of desecration of “BIR” of Sri Guru Granth Sahib were increasing day by day and the Government had done nothing to stop that. Already Punjab had suffered a lot and two precious lives were lost in Bargari and now again, one incident has surfaced in Amritsar district.
