Punjab Cong thumbs down to industrial policy

PNS

Punjab Congress has shown thumbs down to Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal’s “game changer” policy for industrial development in the State, unveiled on Monday.

Referring it a “damp squib”, leader of Opposition in Punjab Vidhan Sabha Sunil Kumar Jakhar on Tuesday said that after much-delay and much deliberations, Punjab Government’s Government industrial policy has nothing to offer to existing industrial units who are reeling under immense financial pressure and are on the verge of closure.

“Why there has been no deliberations with the existing industrial entrepreneurs and why no initiative has been made to make existing units

viableIJ While Industrial policy seeks to give VAT and CST rebates, what about refund of huge VAT collected through coercion of IT inspectorsIJ Due apathy and government policy, Gobindgarh is turning into ghost industrial town and so are units from other parts of Punjab shifting to other States,” said Jakhar.
