Punjab Congress on Saturday condemned police lathicharge on farmers who were agitating for fulfilment of their demands and a demanded a judicial enquiry.
Punjab Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa alleged that SAD Government in the State was treating farmers like animals. He said that Police had used brutal methods against farmers. Demanding judicial inquiry into the lathi charge and compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the kin of killed farmer, Bajwa sought strict action against police officials who failed to to handle the situation.
He said that farmers had resorted to agitation only after Powercom authorities and SAD-BJP Government adopted callous attitude towards their demands.
