Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Sunday met with the family of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh at the latter's residence. Expressing solidarity with Singh who is under the remand of Enforcement Directorate (ED) till October 10, Mann said that Singh dares to speak in front of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Attacking BJP, Punjab Chief Minister said that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) doesn't go to places where it should go. “BJP has only one slogan, that is ‘one nation, one friend’,” he quippped.
Talking about ED raids, Mann said that the agency has conducted almost 3,000 raids but not even one per cent results have come out of these raids. He alleged that ED is conducting raids to scare the Opposition, “but we're not scared of these raids”.
Notably, the ED had, on Wednesday evening, arrested Sanjay Singh following a day-long questioning in connection with the Delhi excise policy case by officials at his Delhi residence.
Later, on Thursday, the Court sent Sanjay Singh to remand till October 10, 2023, in connection with the Delhi excise policy case.
Allegedly, Sanjay Singh's party colleague and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia is also involved in the same liquor policy scam. He is currently lodged in jail in connection with the same.
The former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and Excise Minister was first arrested by the CBI on February 26 for his alleged role in the scam. The case connects with claims that Singh and his partners played a part in the Delhi government's decision to give licenses to alcohol shops and merchants in 2020, causing losses to the state exchequer and violating anti-corruption laws. ED has, so far, filed five charge sheets in the case, including against Sisodia.
