Punjab BJP’s newly-appointed president Shwait Malik, strongly reacting to his Congress counterpart Sunil Jakhar’s statement regarding performance of NDA Government at the Centre, on Tuesday said that Gurdaspur MP has given statement just for the  heck of it which is baseless and just to mark his presence in news.

“I wish to educate him that India has taken record development strides which has been acknowledged globally. Gallup international prestigious annual survey (opinion of global leaders) has considered India one of the best developing nation in the world,” said Malik, adding that Indian economy today is the world’s fastest growing economy.

He said that India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the “only mass leader in India with the vision”.

“It illustrates the faith placed in our Prime Minister by every Indian on his standing globally…The survey has put Modi among top three global leaders with highest world favourable opinion,” he said.

Malik went on to say that he would like to “educate Jakhar” that India has emerged strongly in its space and research technology. “ISRO has successfully launched its 100th satellite taking India far ahead in space all over the world,” he said.

The state BJP chief told Jakhar that hundreds of centrally-sponsored welfare schemes have been initiated by the NDA government to facilitate all sections of society including youth, women, senior citizens, SC/BC and all tribes which has benefited almost every house in the country and Punjab.

“Moreover, the NDA government has spent approximately Rs 70,000 crores in Punjab  to improve infrastructure including roads, flyovers, bridges etc and to improve living conditions in urban Punjab under smart cities project, Swatch Bharat Mission, Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT), Heritage city development, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, and many more,” he said.
