Punjab is all set to get five more Passport Sewa Kendras in Moga, Sangrur, Tarn Taran, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar (Nawanshahr), and Phagwara.

The Kendras will be set up under the initiative of the Union Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Department of Posts (DOP) to utilize the Head Post Offices (HPO) or Post Offices in the country as Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK) for delivery of passport related services to the citizens of the country.

The objective of the partnership is to extend passport related services on a larger scale and to ensure wider area coverage.

Sharing the information that Union External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has sanctioned a Post Office Passport Seva Kendra in Phagwara, the Union Minister and Punjab BJP president Vijay Sampla said that it will benefit people of the area as it is an NRI hub of Doaba region of the state.

Sampla, the Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment and Hoshiarpur MP in which Phagwara falls, said that the Kendra will soon start operating from local Head Post office.

“People of this area will get all the facilities related to applying for and issuing of passports on the pattern of Jalandhar Passport office,” he said.
