Protection of women against crime and domestic violence currently being perpetrated on them along with enforcement of traffic laws will be the top priority of Mandi Police in Himachal Pradesh.
After joining as SP Mandi, 2010 batch IPS officer, Mohit Chawla, said mitigating the pangs of common people who still fear the police station is also a priority.
On enforcement of traffic rules, Chawla said those not wearing helmets would be challaned. Violation of the speed limit within the crowded town would be dealt with strictly.
The SP said all police stations in the district had been directed that complainants coming to the police stations should be cordially and politely attended by listening to their genuine grievances and appropriate action including registration of FIR should be initiated. Any evasive attitude found on the part of police officials would be taken seriously and the guilty would be taken to task.
There would also be emphasis on “community policing” and concept of “people friendly police” would be promoted, Chawla said. He said sooner the information of any crime is intimated to the police, better it would be for maintaining the law and order.
