In what comes as a big relief to Punjab’s farming community ahead of paddy sowing season, the State power utility — Punjab State Power Corporation limited — on Saturday claimed that it would provide eight hours of power supply to the State’s farmers from June 10. PSPCl chairman-cum-managing director (CMD) KD Chaudhri said that they have made all arrangements to provide eigh-hour electricity supply to AP (agriculture pumpsets) consumers of Punjab from June 10, 2015, for sowing paddy.

“Special control rooms have been set up at each zonal headquarters, that is Amritsar (98888-91692), Jalandhar (96461-16679), ludhiana (96461-22070), Bathinda (96461-18039) and Patiala (96461-46400), to apprise power supply position to consumers in Punjab,” he said. Chaudhri said that that phone numbers of these control rooms are prominently being displayed in the newspapers. “If any AP consumer is not getting adequate power supply from June 10, he can register his complaint on the respective zonal control room phone number,” he said.

The CMD said that if urban consumers are having any power supply related problem, they can register their complaint on single phone number — 1912 — from anywhere in Punjab. “In case they find any difficulty in resolution of their complaint, they can also contact special control rooms set up at each zonal headquarters,” he added.

A control room has also been set up at PSPCl’s head office with phone numbers 96461-06835 and 96461-06836 and a special monitoring cell has been set up with phone numbers 96461-21458 and 96461-21459 to register power supply related complaint of all categories of consumers.
