Haryana Government on Tuesday claimed that the power stations in the State are fully geared up to meet the peak power demand during the coming summer months.
The 300 MW unit-2 of Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Station (DCRTPP), Yamunanagar has completed 134 days of its continuous operation on April 25, breaking all previous records of continuous operation by HPGCl thermal units, said an official spokesman of the Haryana Power Generation Corporation (HPGC).
According to the Government’s data, the demand for power in the State during summer was between 7,000 and 9,000 MW, and in winter it was between 3,000 and 6,300 MW. At present, the State has availability of 10,082.83 MW power from all sources.
The spokesman said that the DCRTPP unit has performed well during financial year 2015-16 and has achieved best ever Plant load Factor(PlF) of 78.12 per cent, Auxiliary Power Consumption(APC) of 8.66 per cent, Specific Oil Consumption(SOC) of 0.48ml/kwh and Heat Rate (HR) of 2328 Kcal/Kwh, during any financial year.
He said that the Yamunanagar power plant has become a reliable source of power for Haryana. Due to excellent performance of both the 300 MW units, the power plant as a whole has achieved a PlF of 77 per cent during financial year 2015-16, as against the national average of 62 per cent. He said that with this achievement, the Unit- 2 of DCRTPP has broken the record of 133 days of continuous operation set during Feb 2015 by 300 MW Unit- 1 of DCRTPP.
The spokesman added that the 300 MW unit- 2 would now be taken up under mini overhauling of 15 days from April 27, to make it ready for giving even better performance during the summer months when the demand for power would be at its peak in the State.
