Peeved over Punjab Government’s tall claims on the State’s power situation, leader of Opposition in the Vidhan Sabha Sunil Kumar Jakhar on Thursday shot off an “open letter” to Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal.
Jakhar took on Sukhbir questioning his “promises” of streamlining power situation in 15 days’ time, he made on the floor of the House in the recently-concluded State Budget Session in July. The ClP leader in his communiqué said, “Congress had raised the issue of power crisis on July 16 in the Punjab Assembly. Next day, on July 17, you had promised to all elected Members of legislative Assembly or representatives of the people that State Government will improve the condition of power cuts within 15 days.”
“As per your promise given in the House, the 24-hour power supply had to continue from August 1, which unfortunately could not be fulfilled,” pointed Jakhar. He reminded Sukhbir that he had also mentioned that he had personally put forward the problem of power crisis due to coal in Punjab to the Central Rail and Power Minister.“The condition of power cuts could not improve in various parts of the State and your all promises towards the people proved to be fake or unfulfilled,” he added.
