To keep a check on air and water pollution in the State, 222 industrial units have installed effluent treatment plants and 370 units have installed air pollution control devices in Haryana during the past one year.
An official spokesman of the State Government on Friday said that Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) has been constantly persuading industrial units to install these plants and devices to control air and water pollution in the State.
Apart from this, the Public Health Engineering Department and the Haryana Urban Development Authority have installed 14 and five sewage treatment plants respectively, following pursuance from the Board.
Giving further information about the steps taken by the Board for monitoring the quality of air emissions and effluents, the spokesman said that the monitoring devices for this purpose have been installed by 35 industries. Besides, two suppliers of online monitoring device instruments are displaying monitoring data through cloud servers.
The HSPCB is currently receiving data of 19 industries in its Head Office. The installation of online monitoring system in the industries at source would reduce the need for inspection of the industries by officers as the Board would be able to avail real-time data, he added.
Under Haryana Govern-ment’s new ‘Enterprises Promotion Policy-2015’, the HSPCB has increased the validity period of Consent to Operate (CTO) from two years to five years and from three years to 10 years in the cases of Red and Orange categories, respectively. This step would help save time and free the entrepreneurs from the hassle of obtaining CTO from the Board every year he added.
The spokesman added that in this direction, the time taken to decide Consent to Establish (CTE) and CTO to the industrial units by the Environment Department has been considerably brought down in the past six months. As many as 796 cases of CTE and CTO were pending for more than 90 days on April 16, 2015. This figure has dropped to 150 as on October 16, 2015, he said.
