than Himachal Congress chief Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu who hails from the district. He claimed that before the Model Code of Conduct was enforced in the country, Union Health Ministry had issued a notification for medical college at Hamirpur. Interestingly with no Government machinery backing him, he announced the decision of allotment of medical college through social networking site Facebook. However, State Health Minister Kaul Singh Thakur claimed ignorance of any such notifications.
Chart paper as Plaque!
With Election Commission of India announcing the schedule of general election, the Ministers and Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, who were on inauguration spree to beat the Model Code of Conduct enforced across the country, had to face a peculiar situation. Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh was to inaugurate IRB battalion accommodation and administration blocks at Jungleberi of Hamirpur district. The plaque with the name of Chief Minister was ready but someone reminded the senior police officials that Model Code of Conduct was enforced, so hurriedly a white chart paper was fixed on the plaque with inscription scribbled that Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh had inaugurated the administrative and accommodation blocks for the jawans. That is idea to beat the poll code.
