Police should perform duties without any fear or favour: SAD

PNS

The ruling Shiromani Akali Dal’s MP Prem Singh Chandumajra on Thursday urged Punjab police to perform their duties without any fear or favour. He told them that they need not pay any heed to the “threats” by Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh “who is hell bent on to vitiate the political environment”.

lambasting Capt Amarinder for storming into a police station in Gurdaspur and threatening them that if Congress comes to power, he would dismiss them without any inquiry under Art 311 (2) of Indian Constitution, Chandumajra averred that nobody had any authority to touch police officers performing job without fear or favour as per law of the land and such officers have the support of all right thinking people.

“If this were possible, large number of police officers would be given marching orders whenever there is change Government as many in opposition perceive having been rubbed on wrong side by the bureaucracy or police,” said Chandumajra while simultaneously assuring the police and people that SAD-BJP was returning to power.

Under Capt Amarinder’s leadership, Congress has already suffered two consecutive humiliating defeats and surely it is heading for a hat-trick, he said.

Hitting out at Capt Amarinder for creating ruckus in police station, Chandumajra said that he had no business to take law into his hands.

Chandumajra urged the police to register cases under appropriate legal provisions against all those trespassing police stations to create ruckus or tamasha without rhyme or reason or those obstructing the government officials from performing their legitimate duties.

“I understand acute frustration of Amarinder Singh on not getting adequate response despite his rattling over initial usual hiccups during procurement season or precautionary measures taken by the state government in border areas following escalation of tension with hostile neighbour,” said Chandumajra while advising Capt Amarinder not to lose cool and indulge in activities that attract penal action.
