Condemning the breach of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s security in Punjab on February 5, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal on Friday demanded imposition of President’s rule in poll-bound Punjab.
Khattar alongwith his Cabinet Ministers, state BJP chief OP Dhankar, former Union Minister Rattan Lal Kataria, Speaker Gian Chand Gupta and other party leaders met Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya at the Raj Bhavan here to submit a memorandum regarding Punjab’s Ferozepur incident.
“We have submitted a memorandum to the Governor requesting the President to take strict action against the Punjab Government. I have made an appeal to the President that the Punjab Government should be dismissed and President's rule should be imposed under which forthcoming assembly polls in the state should be held,” the Chief Minister said while talking to the mediapersons. Khattar said, “In the upcoming polls, political leaders of various parties will campaign and it appears that the incumbent regime in Punjab will be unable to ensure law and order. President’s rule should be imposed in Punjab to maintain law and order situation.”
The memorandum submitted to the Governor mentioned how the Prime Minister's convoy was blocked for several minutes in Ferozepur by some “Congress goons” who were holding protests there.
Holding Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi led government responsible for PM’s security lapse, Khattar said that the conspiracy planned by Punjab Government would not be accepted at any cost and anyone believing in the democratic system will never forgive this unconstitutional behaviour of Congress.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister visited Mata Mansa Devi Temple in Panchkula to offer prayers and performed ‘Mahamritunjay Yagya’ for the well-being of the Prime Minister.
