A tree plantation drive was organised by the Income tax department, Chandigarh on Income Tax Day on Monday.
Carried out at the upcoming Mohali office site in sector 78, Mohali, more than 100 fruit bearing and medicinal trees were planted over the area spreading 1.5 acres by the officers and officials of the Department .
KC Jain, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, North West Region and Madhu Mahajan, Director General of Income Tax (Investigation), North West Region and other officers planted trees such as Rudraksha, Neem, Arjun, Bel etc.
During the day, a seminar on ‘Role of Direct Taxes in Nation Building’ was also organised in which officers of the Department, members of Bar and CA association, and taxpayers were present.
The Department organised various other events during the day such as competitions to celebrate the occasion. These events were organised as a part of the celebrations on the occasion of 157th year of Income Tax, being carried out all around the country.
