PNS

Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) on Wednesday set up the institute’s first information kiosk at Nehru Hospital, besides extending its online registration facility to five more departments. Yogesh Chawla, director PGIMER, said it will be a one-stop point for the patients and general public for providing information related to OPD schedules, labs, tests, consultants, hospital charges, holidays, helpline numbers etc.

For providing live patient data to the patient’s attendants, PGIMER has also started ‘Patient Enquiry Module’ which is available at all enquiry counters of PGIMER. This will facilitate the patient’s attendants with patient’s present admission status in a ward and other patient-related information, added Dr. Chawla.

He said 10 more advanced information Kiosks will also be set up in other buildings with more facilities by which Patients will be able to register for OPDs on these kiosks. In addition, viewing and printing of laboratory reports from these kiosks by the patients themselves will also be possible, he added.

The Director also gave approval to the Online Registration facility to five more departments, including Dermatology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, Drug De-addiction and Treatment Centre and Oral Health Sciences Centre on Wednesday.

Online Registration has been going on in the Advanced Eye Centre (AEC) since March 14 of this year, on a trial basis and has got a good response from the patients. Patients can register themselves for a visit to the specified departments on a chosen date in the next one week. Initially, this facility was available to a limited number of patients. But later the limit was increased and the facility extended to other OPDs in PGIMER.
