'People fed up with SAD-BJP anti-people regime'

Punjab Congress chief Partap Singh Bajwa on Monday claimed that the people of Punjab will teach a lesson to the SAD-BJP combine in the lok Sabha elections as they are fed up with their alliance in the State for its “arrogant and anti-people” regime.

“The SAD-BJP alliance symbolises forces of reaction and regression,” said Bajwa while stressing that the Congress stood for secularism and inclusiveness.

Bajwa, in his statement, claimed that the people of Punjab were feeling harassed and humiliated and were just waiting for the opportunity to punish those who were robbing and looting the State. “The socio-political environment has turned suffocating under Akali jathedars without whose signal a common man cannot even lodge a complaint with police,” he alleged.

He said that SAD-BJP alliance was seeking votes mainly in the name of its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi as the ruling dispensation has failed to bring about any change in the State’s landscape despite making tall claims.

“How come there is now no talk of a metro for ludhiana and Pod transportation system for AmritsarIJ All talk of providing cheap cancer treatment has proved hollow as the ‘cancer train from Bathinda to Bikaner continues to be full with patients from Punjab who are looking to get cheaper treatment,” Bajwa pointed.

He advised that Deputy Chief Minister and SAD president Sukhbir Badal should visit the cities of Punjab to take a first-hand look at the actual status of development in the State.
