Punjab Drugs Manufacturers Association (PDMA) on Wednesday expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh for accepting their demand for setting up of a dedicated pharma industrial park crucial for overall development and promotion of bulk drug manufacturing industry especially in post-Covid scenario.
"Accepting our long pending demand, Capt Amarinder Singh had approved setting up of a 133-acre industrial pharma park in village Wazirabad of Fatehgarh Sahib District. The hi-tech industrial park site is located strategically on the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor (AKIC), facilitating movement of goods interstate and for exports," PDMA said in a statement.
Underscoring the high potential of the forthcoming hi-tech facility, PDMA urged the state government to speed up the process of setting up this centre equipped with all common facilities and CETP in a timely manner as with its development the China based Pharma industries will also be tempted and leveraged to shift their operations to Punjab, especially in the changed world economic scene.
"Self-sufficiency in manufacturing of bulk drugs is highly required as any disruptions in supply chain will affect our exports and the drug security of the country. The industrial park is a positive move and need of the hour for companies who want to setup their base in the state and for other units, who are relocating their existing location", the statement added.
