ARORA DIRECTS LOCAL BODIES ON POLLUTION
Haryana Chief Secretary, Keshni Anand Arora on Friday directed all the urban local bodies of the state that as per the directions of National Green Tribunal (NGT), all works of waste management and solid waste management should be completed in a time bound manner so that the cities could be made neat and clean, and the environment can be saved from being polluted.
Presiding over a review meeting in connection with compliance of the directions of the NGT with all the Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and Municipal Commissioners through video conferencing here, the Chief Secretary directed the officials to ensure door-to-door garbage collection in all urban local bodies and to make people aware of dumping of wet and dry waste in separate dustbins.
She said that wherever garbage is thrown in cities and villages, such places should be identified, and garbage should be picked up from those places so that such garbage piles are not seen within the cities and beatification should be carried out of those places and challans should be issued to garbage throwers so that no one would throw garbage again at such places in future.
The Chief Secretary said that instructions should be given for the management of wet waste in places such as hotels, restaurants, colleges and universities where more waste is released. Apart from this, the use of plastic should be banned completely and people should also be made aware of it. If these rules and instructions are violated, challans should also be issued, she added.
