The Haryana Government has appointed noted actress Parineeti Chopra as brand ambassador for the “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” programme to promote the cause of the girl child. Hailing from Ambala in Haryana, she has won several awards, including the Filmfare and National Film Award.
A spokesperson of the State Government on Thursday said that a mega event has been planned by the Haryana Government in Gurgaon on July 21 to give the campaign a great push. Actress Parineeti Chopra will also be present at the function. Haryana, where the child sex ratio (CSR) has been dismally low was chosen by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to launch the nationwide “Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao” earlier this year, which is implemented in 12 districts of the state.
The aim of the scheme is to check the declining sex ratio in Haryana and to ensure that girls are born, nurtured and educated without discrimination to become empowered citizens of this country.
