Haryana Government has constituted committees at the district level to investigate the matter regarding arbitrarily high fees charged by some self-financed private schools in the state.
“These committees would submit their reports within one week,” said Haryana Education Minister, Ram Bilas Sharma on Thursday.
The committees are headed by the deputy commissioner concerned and other members include district education officer, district elementary education officer and block development officer posted in the office of Block Development Officer at district headquarters.
Sharma while presiding over a meeting with senior officers of the School Education Department, said, no private school would be allowed to hike fees arbitrarily.
Some school managements arbitrarily hike fees in the name of providing socks, shoes, copies and transport facility, which is against the rules. The decision to set up committees has been taken in the interest of parents of poor children and legal action would be taken against such schools as arbitrarily charge more fees from parents or guardians, he added.
The Minister had earlier said that the priority of the present government is to provide quality education to the wards of the poor people. The private school operators have been directed to give admission to 10 per cent poor students under Rule 134A. This year, there would not be any problem regarding admission under this Rule, added he.
