PNS

The Punjab State Commission for Scheduled Castes on Sunday warned the schools and colleges of the State which unnecessarily harass the scheduled caste students studying there. The word of caution came after the Commission chairman Rajesh Bagha pointed that some complaints had come to his notice that some schools and colleges of the State are unnecessarily harassing the SC students, which is totally an unfair and biased approach which would not be tolerated by the Punjab State Commission for Scheduled Castes.

He said the Punjab Government has started post-matric scholarship scheme for SC students under which 3.05 lakh students have been benefitted. Besides, the Punjab Government has started several schemes for the welfare of SC Community and more such schemes would be started very soon. Bagha also said that it has come to his notice that SC employees working in some Government departments are being harassed by their officers. “If any officer is found harassing an SC employee unnecessarily, the Commission would have to intervene,” he made it clear. A delegation of people of SC community also submitted a memorandum of their demands to Bagha, who assured them all possible help.
