BJP legislature party chief whip and Panchkula MlA Gian Chand Gupta would be inducted in the Haryana Cabinet as a Minister of State.
The decision was taken during the Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Manohar lal on Wednesday in which state BJP chief Subhash Barala was also present.
At present, apart from Chief Minister, there are seven Cabinet Ministers, two Ministers of State with Independent charge and three Ministers of State. Also, there are four Chief Parliamentary Secretaries.
One more MlA can still be accommodated as a Minister in the Cabinet.
In most of the BJP ruled states, the chief whip of legislature party has been given a cabinet rank. Considering the same, the Cabinet decided to induct the Panchkula MlA in the cabinet, said a senior party leader.
Gupta, who was the treasurer of the Haryana BJP for several years, is also a former Mayor of Chandigarh.
