Claiming that Paddy of most of the registered farmers has been procured in the State, Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala on Thursday said that if less than 25,000 metric tonnes of paddy arrived in the mandis for the next one or two days, the procurement will be stopped on November 21 or 22.
Talking to reporters in Chandigarh, Chautala said from November 1, the State Government had started the procurement of paddy from farmers of other states who had registered themselves on the ‘Meri Fasal Mera Byora’ portal. The State Government has procured 55,07,000 metric tonnes of paddy from 200 procurement centers till November 18, out of which 53,65,000 metric tonnes of paddy have been delivered to warehouses and mills.
Deputy Chief Minister further said that the State Government has procured a total of Rs 11813 crore worth of crops during Kharif-2020 at a Minimum Support Price of 5 crops, of which about 90 percent has been paid to farmers.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that this year, 8.50 lakh metric tonnes less paddy has been procured in the State as compared to the previous year. Citing reasons behind lesser procurement, Chautala said that this time, where many farmers have sown other crops instead of paddy under crop diversification, paddy sold illegally from other states has also been curbed.
He said that millet, moong, maize and groundnut were also procured at the Minimum Support Price.
