MCM DAV College for Women hosted Beyond Boundaries- an event under Cultural Exchange Programme to welcome students from Western Sydney University, Australia here on Wednesday.
Aimed at encouraging cross-cultural interaction while familiarizing the foreign students with rich Indian culture and traditions, the Australian students who are visiting Panjab University as part of a Student Exchange Programme were overwhelmed. They experienced the rich heritage of India through a cultural programme that included rendition of folk songs and traditional orchestra presentation by students of Music Department and an enthralling giddha performance.
Trying their hands at indigenous musical instruments, the visiting students created an atmosphere of inter-cultural harmony. An elaborate and aesthetic display of Indian culture and food caught the fancy of the visiting students.
Principal Nisha Bhargava said such student exchange programmes are fertile grounds for cross-fertilisation of ideas, and promoting understanding and appreciation for different cultures, finally leading to promotion of universal brotherhood.
