The Assembly witnessed high pitched sloganeering from Opposition against Food and Civil Supplies Minister GS Balli for non-availability of rations at depots terming the food security scheme as a political gimmick.

The discussion was called in the House under Rule 130 by senior BJP MlA Mahender Singh Thakur. The debate went on for hours on Tuesday and it was postponed for reply by the concerned Minister for Wednesday.

BJP MlA Govind Thakur stated that PDS has turned into an Public Disturbance System while another BJP MlA Sarveen Chaudhary termed the food security scheme of the UPA-II Government implemented in State as a political gimmick.

Balli said that the schemes of the Congress Government has benefited the people of all segments whether APls or BPls. “The Schemes have benefited 36, 22, 000 people of the state. A scheme has been sanctioned by the center worth rupees 14 core of which computerisation has been done in the department to meet the requirement,” said Balli.
