Haryana Government has decided to review its sports gradation policy to ensure that only outstanding sports persons of the State get jobs in its various departments.
Besides, the State Government has decided that those sportspersons who have passed XII from Haryana and who are not the recipient of award money from any other State, would be eligible for cash awards from the State Government.
These decisions were taken in a meeting of Governing Body of the Haryana Sports Development Fund held under Chief Minister Manohar lal on Tuesday.
The Chief Minister said that only the outstanding sportsperson should get the government jobs. About three per cent posts of groups C and D in government departments are reserved for sports persons.
It was suggested in the meeting that District Grading Certificate for the purpose of recruitment in government jobs should be made ineligible thus giving more opportunities to the holders of State Gradation Certificate where completion is more tough as compared to the district level sports competitions.
Apart from this, only those police sports persons would be eligible for promotion under ORP who have won medals in the prestigious sports events like Olympics, Common Wealth Games and Asian Games. The State Government has so far disbursed Rs 89.90 crore as award money to 3416 outstanding sportsperson of Haryana, informed Additional Chief Secretary, Sports and Youth Affairs Department KK Khandelwal.
